SENIOR SPOTLIGHT:  Maiza

What high school do you attend?  Well, I've already graduated.  I homeschooled part time and went part time to Castle View High School

What activities are you involved in?  I sang with the Saber Singers at Castle View, took martial arts for a few years and I'm currently working for a local Veterinarian.

How would you describe your senior photo experience?  I had an amazing time at my session. My mom did a wonderful job with taking the photos, editing, and getting excited for me. We had the shoot in downtown Castle Rock, Chick-fil-a and at a beautiful Castle.  The photos for each spot were wonderful.  We were able to shop together and she helped pick out my outfits to my style and liking and did a fantastic job including the things I love.  I've been a model for my mom my entire life and I've always loved the photos she takes fo me.  They are full of creativity and not like everyday photos. They are fun, full of excitement and passion.  She loves what she does and it really shows in the photos. Thank you Mom. I've always loved your work. ❤

Some thoughts from Mom:

It's surreal to me that I photographed my oldest daughter's senior photos recently.  I had to follow my own advice and let go of some of my own expectations and let her take the wheel when it came to locations, outfits, and the overall feel to her photos.    I have to say, that I absolutely loved how the session was ALL about her.   She choose the outfits, the locations and we even managed to photograph her at Cherokee Ranch and Castle for some special photos in a dress she choose.  

We scheduled an afternoon of shopping and lunch and it was quality time that we both really enjoyed.  I know these opportunities are fleeting and so it was a joy spending time with just her, planning something fun and exciting.  The next opportunity for something like this will probably her wedding.  (Let's not rush things!)

Photographing my own daughter's senior photos really emphasized and confirmed the importance of a beautiful senior portrait experience.  Moms, take this time to shop with your senior, listen to her ideas and enjoy preparing for her photos.  It's a memorable time for her but it can be a beautiful time for the both of you to enjoy the planning process together!
